Craig Halpern, LCSW

My name is Craig Halpern, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, welcome, and thank you for choosing to get to know a little about me and what I can do for you.  I chose to be a therapist because growing up I always had the desire to help other people deal with their issues and would often put the needs of others before my own.  Through my journey with my own therapy and life experience, I realized that perspective does not work very well and you have to learn to also take care of yourself. However, in the process I learned that I was very good at helping people and once I learned to also attend to my own needs I realized that choosing this profession was the right path for me.

I have spent years treating children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families and have found success with alI of them.  I believe I provide a therapeutic setting that will make you feel safe and comfortable discussing whatever issue you are struggling with.  I understand that therapy is very personal and with the right therapist it can be life changing.  As a client, one of the most important components to getting the help you need is making a commitment to the process.  I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important part for you to experience success.  I offer honest, warm and responsible feedback to assist you in making the best choices for yourself.

As a product of divorce, I certainly struggled in my youth and have overcome my own struggles with addiction and disconnection. It is through this growing experience and my willingness to share it with you that I believe I am set apart from many other therapists who do not understand the depth of struggles with addiction.  Understanding how debilitating and devastating addiction can be to an individual and family enables me to connect with others with compassion, empathy, and understanding. I look forward to meeting with you and being a part of the next chapter in your life.
